DanBred delivers genetics worldwide with the purpose of producing more pork for less costs. We focus on targeted breeding, which forms the foundation for achieving higher productivity and robust pigs in your herd. In the end, this results in higher profit for you as a pig producer.
Our production sow, DanBred Hybrid, provides robust litters with proven performance all the way to the slaughterhouse. She is known for her excellent mothering abilities, caring for more piglets and ensuring a high number of strong piglets at weaning. A calm sow that will smoother the daily work and provides pigs with great feed-to-meat conversion.
DanBred Hybrid is created by crossing DanBred’s two female lines: DanBred Landrace and DanBred Yorkshire. Our terminal line, DanBred Duroc, is undoubtedly the best performing sire on the market. Both DanBred Hybrid and DanBred Duroc has a big catalog of proven results.
In 2024, DanBred Hybrid performed 37.3 weaned piglets per year sow on average. Over a 2-year period, piglet survival has increased by +1.6 percentage points, and the number of liveborn piglets by 0.6, resulting in 2 additional piglets being weaned per sow per year. Together DanBred Hybrid and DanBred Duroc forms a top-performing slaughter pig with a growth of 1162 grams per day, 59.8 in meat percentage and 2.23 in kg feed per kg daily gain.
We continue to improve our genetics, as we have done for more than 120 years. Our latest feature to the DanBred Hybrid is the inclusion of breeding for litter weight gain. This trait enhances the sow’s care ability to produce more milk and wean heavier piglets. It is expected to contribute an annual litter weight gain of 3 kg. The DanBred Hybrid cares for better litter performance, positively impacting piglet growth and performance all the way to slaughter.
