With the latest cutting-edge update to the breeding goals from the DanBred R&D, we yet again consolidate our leading position on number of produced pigs with superior feed efficiency and highest daily gain – and continued focus on the robustness of both the sows as well as the piglets.
More weaned pigs per sow
We are proud to announce improved breeding goals, which include new superior traits that will increase the number of weaned pigs per sow, mainly by improving the piglet survivability. The approach is unique, because it includes the piglet’s own genetic potential, instead of merely looking at the genetic potential of the sows.
“DanBred sows already produce large litters, and this continues, and now with a significantly larger focus on robustness and survival.”
CEO of DanBred, Claus Fertin

Even better feed efficiency and higher daily gain
The new breeding goals will add to further development on feed efficiency and result in even higher daily gain. This reduces not only the days until slaughter, but also the total feed consumption, which consolidates DanBred’s leading position in productivity and sustainability.
"We will keep improving the breeding goal with the aim of creating more output with less input."
